Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, popularly known as Cardi B, is a song writer, rapper and an actress. She was born on the 11th of October 1992 in Manhattan but raised in South Bronx. Her father was a Dominican, while her mother, a Trinidadian.

Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar got the name “Cardi B”, which we all know her as, from “Bacardi” which was formerly her nickname. Cardi B started working at an Amish Market in Tribeca and started stripping as a teenager. After her job in the Amish Market was terminated by her employers, she started stripping. Cardi B also acknowledged the fact that turning into a stripper helped her out if you look at it from multiple points of view.

She confirmed that she had to  turn into a stripper so as to get away from neediness and aggressive behavior at home after being kicked out her mom's home. She also said that stripping was the only alternative for her to make money to get away from the precarious circumstance that has befallen her and also to further her education. Cardi B was able to convince her. Mom that she was taking care of people's children as a source of income, whereas, she was stripping.

She gradually became more known around 2013 because of a few of her recordings spreading on her Instagram Page and on Vine. She became popular after her posts and videos went viral on Instagram. She appeared regularly on Love & Hip Hop: New York from 2015 - 2017.

In 2017, Cardi B dropped two Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 before signing with Atlantic Records label. Bodak Yellow was the first single released by Cardi B under the Atlantic Records Label. The song was a successful one as it rose up to number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Cardi B became the first female rapper to claim the top position of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with a solo song since 1998 when Lauryn Hill did same.

Invasion Of Privacy was her debut album which she released in 2018. The album was certified triple platinum by the RIAA and it also broke so many streaming records.

Cardi B made her debut in music in 2015 on a the remix of a song titled “Boom Boom” by Shaggy. Her first music video was on the 15th of December. She released her first mixtape on the 7th of March 2016 titled “Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1”
